After three world crowns, time to make babies, says Gabriel Medina.
Only hours after marrying dancer Isabella Arantes, Gabriel Medina, who is thirty two and often feted for his raw sensuality, well-knit straight thighs and bouncing buttocks that rival even Ethan Ewing and John John Florence, is reportedly planning to step away from next year’s tour as he plans a family with his new wife.
But, first, a few new clips from his gorgeous wedding which also included BFF Neymar Jr.
Bailing from the 2027 tour is a decision, apparently, that could complicate his path to a fourth Olympic appearance in Los Angeles in 2028.
Qualification for the 2028 Games is determined primarily through the WSL rankings over a period running from August 2027 to July 2028, meaning a full season away from competition would strip him of most of the events used to determine qualifiers.
Two alternate routes for the three-time champ and Olympic bronzie.
Medina could qualify through this year’s ISA World Surfing Games in Peru, provided Brazil wins the men’s team title and he is the top-placed Brazilian. Failing that, the 2028 ISA Games will allocate seven Olympic berths to individual athletes, requiring a top-seven finish and, again, being Brazil’s highest scorer.
Medina is also said to be planning a move to São Paulo and intends to expand business investments during the time off.
The break would come after a season in which Medina remains a contender for a fourth world title.
He sits fourth in the current standings, trailing leader Leonardo Fioravanti of Italy by roughly 6,300 points, with several tuberiding events, the mighty Teahupoo and diff but just as sexy Cloudbnreak, a strength of his, and stops at venues where he has previously won still remaining on the 2026 calendar.
Medina has not publicly confirmed the sabbatical plans.
