In further proof that CEO Erik Logan may be the only employee remaining, the World Surf League posted a congratulations to Olympic debut gold medalists Italo Ferriera from Brazil and Carissa Marks from country unknown yesterday afternoon.
The portmanteau, built from Carissa Moore and Caroline Marks, was yet another goofy-grinned head slapper and cemented the WSL’s position as “silly goose” of sport governing bodies.
And that is all I have to say about that.

Look simply put the Olympics are now the pinnacle for proffesional surfing , and the surfing governing body is the ISA , a surfer can not qualify nor win a medal with out being sanctioned by the ISA / Olympic governing body , the WSL is now of no real actual relevance to a athelete that is striving to be the best and win Olympic Gold .
I think its about time the ISA was given more air time ,lets hear more from the ISA leadership team , whats the game plan going forward , surely it cant be in conclusion witt the WSL as that is marginalizing the pure atheletes that do not want to be part of the commercial underbelly of surfing.
Where are the interviews with Kanga PT Rabbit MR TC Barton etc extolling how their long term vision for surfing to be accepted as a main stream sport has been achived and they throw their full support behind the ISA …
So many angles so many unknowns will the surf industry take the bait and drop the WSL and throw everything into supporting the ISA and the Olympics .
What about Australia where the majority if not all WSL events are underwritten by local government, will they now be engaged by the ISA to support amature surfing over professional surfing , one would assume yes.
All very interesting and im not supprised at the lack of in depth discussion coming out of the main stream nor independent surfing media …as they really are not all that smart.
