The Australian Olympian and recently retired pro surfer Julian Wilson has launched his own “multifunctional” clothing brand called Rivvia Projects.
Wilson, who is thirty-three, made the announcement via press release.
Rivvia Projects’ goal is to deliver everyday versatile products that are built for a multifunctional world. A world where surf meets sport, and sport meets street. Products that are timeless and adaptable created for and inspired by a category we’re calling ‘Active Discovery’.
“This year has been a big one for me personally. I’ve made some major decisions surrounding my career and my family. Digging deep to find purpose and really figure out and decide what my future holds. These decisions have allowed me to take on new projects I never thought possible. Dreams I’ve always wanted to make a reality. What you’re seeing is a concept that is years in the making. An idea I needed to explore. An itch I needed to scratch.”
Ain’t nothing on the website yet and Instagram is light on info but it marks a wonderful step forward for the former rookie of the year and world number two who, barely one year ago, was locked in a bitter court dispute with former sponsor Hurley.
Wilson claimed Hurley had refused to pay him $1.5 million that was owed “under a written endorsement agreement” and after declining a low-ball offer from Hurley cited the company’s increasingly toxic reputation in the professional surfing world.”
Wilson joins Kelly Slater (Outerknown), John John Florence (Florence Marine X) and Dane Reynolds (Former) in the clothing game.
Rivvia Projects launches in June.

Uh okay tell me where I can buy a tee for 4 bucks and have it screen printed. Since I have been in the business for over 8 yrs u seem too have some damn good sources for garments and your screen printer is giving his services away for free.

I’ve recently found a brand that sells t shirt for $25. It’s decent quality and has fish embroidered on it ( prefer fish to any thing surf related).
All the screen printing is done in Australia ( Torquay).
I was wondering how the fuck they are making any money at that price point?
Sounds like a luxury property development aimed up at negative-gearing boomers or people from the city who are finding a new, refreshed outdoor identity with this ‘surfing’ thing.
Isnt pipe/tour starting in a few weeks? Any guess on who benefits most from the new schedule? You see the photos of this run of swells, anything interesting? 2 years after the mid length craze, has the infatuation waned or is a new kook board on the horizon? Does the new Costco Foamie generation have any interest in performance surfing or a tour? Are the small locked down tight countries scoring historically?(astro?).
So many untouched topics, surely an audience can read about surfing? Enquiring minds want to know? Would anyone read an actual surf story?

At one stage I couldn’t watch obscure QS events from Oz and Chile in Germany because of intellectual property rights and GEMA ( Society for Musical Performance and Mechanical Reproduction Rights) Go figure ?
