Stephanie Gilmore adding seven more. Kelly Slater posting six of his eleven in the aughts. Carissa Moore hoisting five though, really, six.
Legends, each and every one.
Time, as it does, marches on, though. Andy Irons‘ legacy is cemented as he left this mortal coil in 2010. Kelly Slater, his onetime nemesis, is carrying on with pocket fake wildcards from here to eternity. Carissa Moore, days ago, retired classier than any surfer has, which leaves us Stephanie Gilmore.
The very classy Australian has surfed, professionally, since receiving a Roxy Pro Gold Coast wildcard in 2005 and went on to win and charm, win and charm, for nearly two decades.
Very fine rumor has it, though, that she, like Moore, is going to do the right thing and hang it up within weeks, if not days.

I, like most, like Steph. Love her style. But I would say that the longer we have been calling her the goat the more her flaws come to light. She’s been shit at any sizeable wave while we just look the other way (correct me if wrong), all while we absolutely destroy pip on the mens’ draw. And rightfully so! …so for this i say Carissa takes the crown despite walking away from the kingdom.

This story is just clickbait. Most of BG’s “rumors” are fake. Just like those rumors that Palm Springs Surf Club was gonna go belly up…oh wait BG never reported those rumors lol

Otherwise, thanks for all the memories and making me respect the unreal ability of female surfers. The whole thing wasn’t up to scratch for too long and the surfers of the 2010’s on changed that with aplomb.

Rumours out of NZ, for anyone interested – Billy Stairmand might be about to announce his retirement from the QS/CS. This comes after rumours Westfarmers (owner of Bunnings) didn’t renew his contract for use of their BBQ fundraiser facilities.
