"At the end of the series, the two fell into a fight."
The International Surfing Association’s World Surf Games is currently underway in free and proud El Salvador, though you may not be aware. ISA chief Fernando Aguerre made attendance mandatory for professional surfers who dream of winning Olympic gold, you see, but the requirement is only enforced in the year directly prior to the Games. Thus, no World Surf League standout or even bottom-dweller is there.
Others, though, are, participating in the ISA’s mission of “making a better world through surfing.” Alas, yesterday-ish the togetherness and camaraderie, the idealism and magnanimity, was marred by a grisly interference.
The incident occurred in one of the many thousands of heats and involved Chile’s Estela López Cross and France’s Aelan Vaas who happens to be the sister of 2024 Olympic surfing gold medalist Kauli.
Duke Surf reported, “Beginning of the series with no priority marked. Undesirable situation but given in split peak conditions. Cross went left and Vaast went right. Interference was charged for French over Chilean. At the end of the series, the two fell into a fight.”
As students of history know, relations between France and Chile grew frosty after L’Hexagon offered Chilean leftist Ricardo Palma Salamanca recent asylum. He had murdered Senator Jaime Guzman, a confident of former dictator Augusto Pinochet in 1991.
Pinochet came to rule via a 1973 coup and quickly formed up a brutal junta. He was accused of many atrocities before his expulsion from power in 1990.
Chile’s interior minister Andres Chadwick declared, “Both the crimes perpetrated by Ricardo Palma Salamanca and his trial and conviction took place once democratic order had been re-established in Chile. We are talking about serious terrorist attacks that took place in a democratic era.
“The case of Ricardo Palma Salamanca relates to the history of Chile under the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet,” French foreign ministry spokesman Olivier Gauvin countered, not coughing Salamanca up.
The Cross Vaast affair certainly to inflame tensions, possibly pushing Chile and France into armed conflict.
A worse world because of surfing.

They shoulda swapped boards and both gotten extra points for the show.

I was banned but I got better.
She turned me into a newt!
Did someone turn off the comments on the idiot thread about Kirk? Nothing posts.
I think so, so I’ll blow up this damn thread too, respond to your comment to my comment, and say that the shell casings had pro-trans and pro-antifa stuff on them according to law enforcement, and I have a hard time believing that would be a false flag thing in this instance. Most likely explanation is that this was a person who didn’t like Kirk. I didn’t like him either. Didn’t deserve to be murdered, but I’m also not going to particularly miss him.
As of now, only ones reporting that is WSJ citing “cops”. We will see. Though not likely, easily could be a false flag thing.
Hmmm…can they do that? And why would they? DR published it entirely to drive clicks and comments, so why turn it off when it was accomplishing precisely that?
Tuco Salamanca would bring this to a conclusion. Quickly.
Wtf is this “pending” shit?
I was also banished to the world of “pending”.
Based oh my ability to post that comment, I guess I was banned from the Charlie Kirk memorial article for posting a quote from Charlie Kirk? What’s going on here?
It’s either phase 6 of the great reset or Disqus is just playing up.
think we in phase 7!!
Relax, your comments posted. All 4 of them that said the same thing. Disqus is just being careful. I was wondering same until I saw “pending”.
I’ve already constructed a sprawling conspiracy to explain this but I appreciate the insight.
I’m sure Disqus could have filters in place to require any “Charlie” story to require pre-moderation.
My brain agrees but my heart yearns for phase 6 of the great reset.
I asked Disqus and unfortunately they’re not controlling the narrative. I must’ve bumped the pre-moderation button, that or the chip in head from the Vax made me do it.
The chip in my head from the Vad gave me procrastination.
The MMR vax from when I was born. Those bastards.

That camera angle Rocks. Better than the 50 logs being ridden with baby deer steps out front.
Rocks locals.
Looks like six feet to me.

right about now just happy to read pretty much anything that isn’t connected to the American political scene
Right now just happy to leave the American political scene. Am stuck, though. And not even waves on the horizon, into which there could be an escape. Ziggy Marley and Burning Spear are hitting the East Coast right now, though–may jump up to see them next week. Few hours of One Love and some Social Living would soothe the soul.
let’s get together and feel all right
Oooh Yeah!
>”At the end of the series, the two fell into a fight.”
Is this bad translation or did I miss the fight? Because when they cut back to the live shot the two of them are bobbing around the lineup not even close to each other
Three seconds of surfing is all I needed to see to hope they have Plan B and not the kind you find at the pharmacy after a night on the town.
