Surfers urged to use extreme caution after “new wave of bull sharks” closes NSW beaches

"Tell me, is this normal? I haven't seen anything like this surfing around here my whole life."

It sure is an exciting time to be alive, AI takin’ care of the dullest tasks, the dirty ol mullahs in Iran about to be hoisted and dropped from their own gallows, the Australian of the year calling for a global uprising against colonialists from Sydney to Tel Aviv etc as cops bring a little of that old school justice into the streets.

Which means you don’t wanna bleed out on some lonely stretch of beach, chopper too late as your femoral artery spills your allocated gallon and a half of juice onto the sand just ’cause you wanna do a few jumps in two-foot waves, and miss out on all the fun.

After five bulls shark attacks in a few days, kid dead in the harbour, surfer legless at Manly, boards bashed to hell at Freshie and Point Plomer, and don’t forget the gal who was killed and her boyfriend maimed by a bull shark in November, bull sharks sure have become an item of concern on surfers’ agendas.

A few weeks of bright skies and blue water made it fade a little but new rains have brought the bull sharks back.

At Bungan Beach, just around the corner from Newport there on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, a bull shark ate a dolphin in front of thrilled beachgoers.

One surfer writes:

“My local beach.

“For 12 months I’ve been banging on about this and have told every person close to me to stay the fuck outta the water. That thing at one stage is in TWO FUCKEN FOOT OF WATER.

“Maybe a 40cm jaw which snaps every teenager in half.

“Anyone that puts shit on you needs mental assessment, everything you’ve said has happened.

“But no, let’s listen to the scientists that have data that shark numbers haven’t increased…. Can’t wait to see those scientists turn up bedside and to the funerals of those who die.”

Below the line, Mike Psillakis, brother of Mercury, killed by a Great White in September, writes: “Tell me, is this normal? I haven’t seen anything like this surfing around here my whole life.”

Joel Nancarrow, owner of Hunter Shark Jaw Restoration, a specialised business focused on the preservation, cleaning, restoration, and taxidermy of shark jaws, whom you’ve enjoyed in these pages previously writes:

COULDNT WRITE THIS STUFF!!!!!!!!

So it’s happened again, the last couple of days I’ve posted videos of the “food chain” in action, with white bait being eaten by Mac tuna and the Mac tuna being herded up by dolphins.

Most people were happy to see it, some people still dispute the fact that this is what brings sharks in and not fisherman.

Well, well, well, today a dolphin on a Sydney beach got smashed by the next level in the food chain. A monster bull shark!!!

While this isn’t something we see often, it confirms that the increased number of fish and dolphins on the beaches are infact a major factor in the sharks, not fisherman.

Thanks to everyone that takes notice and trusts our views to have some weight behind them.

And, This is what happens as the bullsharks get bigger and compete for food, stuff we aren’t used to seeing will be a common sight. Every year will be much worse than the previous

Over at Manly, and where Andre de Ruyter lost his leg to a bull shark in January, the beach has been closed ’cause of bulls.

Meanwhile, at Kurnell, on the harbour side of Cronulla there and where the “little cross-dressing Italian Scotsman” aka world champ Mark Occhilupo grew up, a mighty bull was just pulled from the beach.

Pro fisherman Trapman Australia writes he’s been fishing the joint for 35 years and never caught a bull shark.

A Botany Bay local writes: I grew up fishing Botany Bay almost 2 times a week for 10 years straight and never really had any run ins. In the last 5 years I’ve fished it a hand full of times and seen them almost every time, including fishing for them and having success.

ah back to reality…..first I find it stunning that Grace Tame who won Australian of the year for her advocacy for child sexual abuse survivors …..she then gets up at a rally in Sydney and spouts ,” we have to continue to globalize…from Gadigal to Gaza, globalize the intifada…after calling Herzog for inciting genocide……a call for global violence and uprising….well…..seems a bit contradictory and hypocritical …..hate speech vs hate speech…like Gret she should stick to what she knows instead of ruining any credibility she has, both!

Bull Sharks….had a great chat with Nick C the other day , why so many Bull sharks and latest.

First he said they had just traced a big bull from Sydney Harbor , cruised down to Ulladulla/Mollymook……soon as the water goes under 20 degrees they go back up North to the southern end of the great barrier reef for winter ……..there’s about 4000 bullsharks on the East Coast…..and their natural predators are Tiger and GWS’s…they hunt in murky water as tigers and GWS’s cull them…..

As humans are in the process of creating a new warmer/dirtier climate…yep bulls are staying longer down South…and it’s only a matter of time they will become permanent as waters stay warm…..so humans now have to work out how to navigate more sharks, dirtier/warmer water ?

Occy's Nostril

Only kill the ones with teeth. The rest should be allowed to live peacefully…

Hippy

Gonna be hard to go back now unless it’s a sex tour.

I got the pass so good. Cyclone Aivu. 3-400 yard runners, perfect. Just me and Cram and his mate. I hitched a ride back to Watsego’s I rode so far into the bay.

Hippy

The parking meter maids were bikini models at Burleigh. 4G is what I remember their bikini’s were printed…. I think a radio station.

And the Play Pen…. Young seppo on the prowl. Heady times.

Tom House

Personally, I think more anti-science is the way to go. Who needs science when we have anecdotal evidence from people invested in there being fewer sharks in inshore waters?

Rich Marx

They should ship in some of those shark eating orcas from South Africa.

https://uploads.disquscdn.c… Got some of the best waves I have gotten in oz at Bungan. This was in 01′. Just me and a buddy and a very nice friend of his who was injured documenting. Haven’t gotten anything close to that good in that area since.

Bungans great, one of my faves!!

Brutus

is that any relation to a bogan?

Barrelled

Saw that area going nuts couple different years in early 90’s, camping on the beachfront at the Wreck. I think I wrote before, Wreck was off its rocker and Margo was taking it apart. There was another guy tearing it apart too but I can’t recall his name. He was like the anti-Margo but killing it. Crazy sand at Main but surprisingly few people surfing it, and Broken Head was all filled up with sand and full on sand point break.

longtomssecondcuztwiceremoved

Wreck can be insane on it’s day.

were you out near the Boilers?

Barrelled

It was the right that started right in front of the shipwreck. No lefts, too much sand.

Broken head was a secret spot in the mid 80’s. Pete Bowes sent me photos of it today…. packed to the gills with talented guys.

The beach break inside Byron was insane, have some good photos somewhere…. meat works? Some name that meant butcher. Like Pakala, a slaughter house up river…. foggy memory.

Derek Hynd's Missing Fins

Good stuff. Need to order a board from him if I ever get some cash. He needs to crowd source a new logo from us all, though. And there was this:
“I go on to Christian forums now and take down white evangelists,” laughs Maurice. “I ask them if they can pass the Jesus test. Loving, caring, sharing. Can they pass it?”

So BG is a Christian forum?!?

southern gold

Bring back the pill or teddy bear logo

Rich Marx

The best Rincon/Malibu board I’ve ever had was a Maurice Cole with the teddy bear logo. Just worked so good at points.

Chief Hot stuff

Your hood was backwater in my day

Thats the George Greenough justification btw, for more shark fishing.

Protect the poor dolphins from getting chomped.

I think, a position worth considering- they are sentient, intelligent creatures.

The Bitchy Crab

It’s Palestine v Israel all over again!

Sellme fitzgobbins

Maybe your Israeli overlords could set up an iron shark dome on Sydney’s beaches ?

Tom House

Or maybe they could use the thermobaric bombs they’re dropping on Gaza neighborhoods

Ramathorn

A few years ago now, the dolphins at Monkey Mia were getting mauled by sharks. Got a lot of news coverage scaring tourists and kids. Not sure if they did anything other than blame fisherman so times haven’t changed much.

Brutus

now there’s a thought….we need to protect dolphins from sharks……what could go wrong….how many dolphins get eaten by sharks ?

longtomssecondcuztwiceremoved

more and more

Brutus

do you think dolphins are suffering a population crisis brought on by sharks eating them?

or is it just the natural order, like tigers and GWS’s eating young bullsharks?

longtomssecondcuztwiceremoved

Little juvey black marlin washed up on the beach here this morning with scars from a losing battle with grey suits.

I mean, huge chunks bitten out.

Hippy

Go Fish

Beef & Beer

If the (very tasty and succulent, with no mercury) baby sharks were targeted as a food-stuff and regularly eaten by most Australians the problem would soon sort itself out.

Mm mmmm…

My head was on a swivel

Surfed Narra beach park one day all day…. roping peaks and got back to the Regent dead tired. Surf nap time. Woke after dark and the valet told me to walk to Kings Cross for a party. Ooooowwwwweeeee, so many slutty sluts. Yes on Asians, some Lebanese’s too. All flavors and aggressive

Chief Hot stuff

Yeah leb gals are sexy, their brothers are scary but.

Hippy

Agree. Once in Mex, Bex, met a local girl and she’s grinding on me, it’s on. She takes me to a local club/restaurant and straight onto the dance floor, grinding on me. Song ends and her dad taps her on the shoulder, invites us to sit down with her entire family. Young men are looking at me like road kill, knew I was in trouble. She distanced herself from me as her dad was livid.

Excused myself to the rest room and knew the young guys would follow so I crossed the busy dance floor and ran through the kitchen into an alley and never stopped running until I made the hotel. The coyotes were going to work me over.

Gotta be careful

Hippy

If sharks were tasty and part of some diet, no one would care if they were fished.

GO FISH AUSTRALIA

deeks

Are you on jsc payroll now. ? Exposing fishing grounds

If it is a contest between Surfers vs Sharks in Australian waters, the Sharks are winning.
