Oh to be a surfer who lives on America’s east coast. One day its as flat as a pancake, the next Eddie-sized bingo bongo bango. Hot as hades during the summer, cold as a witch’s broomstick in the winter and many of the roads apply tolls. Bomb cyclones, heat domes and wicked big nor’easters.
Right now, one of those baddies is smacking the Carolinas, New Jersey, New York and points further north. Torrential rains, flooding and, of course, massive massive surf.
Alleged 18-foot waves ripping right into the Outer Banks.
Big yikes.
The New York Times is blaming the Pacific’s super El Niño for the East Coast mayhem, declaring that this is very likely not the last time, this 2026/27 that the original 13 colonies will get licked.
While sad times, for many, surfers in New York are getting very barreled. The New York Surf Report has declared, “Some of the most legitimately messed up waves NYC has seen in years will come through today.”
It also added, “Elite level surfers only.”
