"Being able to chat with Kelly in the lineup, even share waves... unbelievable. I can't believe it."
Scottish surfers received the thrill of a lifetime, hours ago, as the winningest professional surfer of all-time, one Kelly Slater, paddled out amongst them for an evening shred. “We’re surfing at East Sands in St. Andrews and… Kelly Slater turned up, I guess,” one explained. “We were just surfing a peak up there and he paddled up next to us,” another added.
“Being able to chat with Kelly in the lineup, even share waves… unbelievable. I can’t believe it,” a third chimed in.
Slater, in town for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship golf event, put on a signature display of carving 360s, bashes off the lip and blown tails.
“It’s nice to get a wave here in Scotland,” the 11-time surf champion declared before throwing in a classic dollop of silly goose.
“I was saying I couldn’t feel my feet not because it was so cold but because I walked golf all day. My feet were just tired.”
Have you ever walked so much that you couldn’t feel your feet?
