The long arm of the internet.
Surf rage has, apparently, moved to the roads in California’s beach towns. And San Clemente is where we lay our scene, picking up mid act as a black SUV piloted by an irate man pulls up next to another car, driver unseen though identified by our narrator at a Hispanic mother with two-year-old daughter along for the ride.
It is uncertain what caused the severe frustration, but the very angry man begins spitting on the car before pulling in front of it, stopping and marching to the window, mad.
Apparently, the woman was refused police help and so the internet took over in seeking justice.
Integrity sleuths finger the man as a surfer, thanks to his core surf t-shirt, with the narrator declaring, “The surfing community is a very small community so when they saw you wearing this shirt they immediately identified you.”
He is then dragged through the public square.
A few questions, why does the woman roll down her window to allow for the spit to come inside?
Now that surf rage has moved to the roads, will it move to the skies next?
Does it bode poorly for the World Surf League that “the surfing community is a very small community?”
Currently more questions than answers.

A few things to note: Police won’t help because San Clemente doesn’t have a police headquarters anymore; it was shut down in 2020. With no sound in the video, we don’t really know WHY this was happening. I’d be interested to hear both sides of the story. And lastly – negative events like this get exploited for the benefit of others to get more followers for their social media accounts (and for news media to get more clicks). Drive safe out there everyone! And be kind. Always.

But guys, what if she snaked his parking spot? Clearly we need to have enforcers on the roads or these drivers who only were motivated to learn to drive because of Covid aren’t going to respect the rules of the road. I remember when I was just learning to drive, and if you cut someone off, if you snaked their parking spot, or if you changed lanes without putting your blinker on, you were going to get spit on—full stop. Jeff is part of a dying breed, a relic of a bygone era where men were men, women were women, cats were cats, and dogs were dogs. Too many kooks on the road these days. I’m surprised the old time local drivers even want to get behind the wheel anymore.

Who cares what she hypothetically may have done? You don’t endanger the lives of other people on the road by driving recklessly (eyes off road, hands out of car, stopping abruptly in middle of the damn intersection) or this woman and her toddler because she may have (hypothetically) “snaked” his parking spot. Screw Jeff, and let the circus come to him now for behaving like a clown.

The real lesson, I suppose, is don’t step outside the lines if you surf and /or wear core surf tees.
