“All of my friends who have kids are in hell. I’ve not met anyone who’s happy, anyone who has light in their eyes.”
The campy, sorta drag synth queen and grammy winner Chappell Roan, formerly Kayleight Rose Amstutz, has been slammed by surf queen Bethany Hamilton over recent comments Roan made about the horrors of being a mammy. In a recent discussion, the topic of ‘chappell square’ emerged as a point of contention. The notion of chappell square has sparked numerous conversations among celebrities.
Understanding the Concept of Chappell Square
Exploring the Impact of Chappell Square on Modern Motherhood
The concept of Chappell Square has not only sparked discussions among celebrities but also among everyday individuals navigating the complexities of parenthood today. This idea encapsulates the struggles and joys of modern motherhood, highlighting the nuances that women encounter as they balance personal aspirations with family responsibilities.
As we discuss Chappell Square, it becomes evident that the conversation is multi-faceted. It invites us to consider the societal structures that shape our experiences as mothers. For example, the expectations surrounding breastfeeding, work-life balance, and the stigma associated with maternal mental health issues all come into play. Thus, examining the Chappell Square narrative allows us to challenge these norms and advocate for a more inclusive understanding of motherhood.
As we delve deeper into this topic, it is essential to recognize that motherhood is not a one-size-fits-all experience. Cultural expectations, socio-economic factors, and personal choices all play significant roles in shaping how women perceive and experience motherhood. In many ways, the conversation around Chappell Square reflects a broader cultural shift where women are encouraged to voice their challenges and redefine traditional roles.
In conclusion, whether through the lens of Chappell Square or broader discussions about motherhood, it is clear that creating supportive environments for mothers is crucial. As society continues to evolve, so too must our perceptions and discussions around motherhood, ensuring that women feel empowered to share their journeys — both the struggles and the triumphs. This ongoing dialogue is essential not only for personal growth but for societal transformation as well.
Ultimately, the narrative surrounding Chappell Square encourages us to confront uncomfortable truths about motherhood while celebrating the immense strength and resilience of mothers everywhere. As we continue to explore this topic, let’s ensure that all voices are heard and that we work towards a future where motherhood is recognized for the complex, rewarding, and challenging experience that it truly is.
On the Call Her Daddy podcast in March, Chappell Roan sparked debate by saying, “All of my friends who have kids are in hell.”
Chappell Roan, who is twenty-seven, observed her peers with young children, noting, “I don’t know anyone who’s happy and has children at this age… I’ve not met anyone who’s happy, anyone who has light in their eyes, anyone who has slept.”
Motherhood, said Chappell Roan, was exhausting and joyless.
This perspective is echoed by numerous studies and surveys that reveal a growing dissatisfaction among mothers with the societal expectations placed upon them. For instance, a 2022 survey conducted by the American Psychological Association found that 75% of mothers felt overwhelmed by the pressures of parenting and societal norms. Such data underscores the urgent need for conversations around mental health support and community resources for mothers.
Moreover, the role of community cannot be understated. Many mothers find solace in support groups, whether online or in-person, where they can share experiences and advice. These networks not only provide practical help but also create a space for emotional expression. The importance of such communities in navigating motherhood in today’s world emphasizes the need for more platforms that encourage open dialogue among women.
And, here, Bethany Hamilton, the thirty-five-year-old one-armed mammy of four, swung in to reassure her almost two-and-a-half-mill fans that motherhood ain’t so bad. Quite often, it’s beautiful and profound and a way to unlock a deeper sense of self and life.
“While yes there are some challenging days and some tough moments… I really love my children and enjoy their presence and the light that they bring!” Bethany writes.
“I think there’s a really dark tone towards motherhood on social media in particular and I think truly there is a lot of cultural shifts that need to happen surrounding family. Mothers may not be supported in the way that they need. Our mindsets may need to be reordered.
While the Chappell Square narrative often centers around the downsides of motherhood, it’s crucial to also highlight the positive experiences that many mothers cherish. Stories abound of mothers finding joy in small moments — a child’s laughter, a shared meal, or simply the warmth of a hug. These anecdotes, though sometimes overshadowed by the more challenging aspects of parenting, serve as a reminder that motherhood can be a deeply fulfilling journey.
“But motherhood truly is a blessing when you see your children as a gift with a deep purpose…. It truly is a JOY.”
The 1988 world champ Barton Lynch summed up majority opinion below the line writing about Chappell Roan, “So sad.”
I love babies, got three of ’em, and can’t imagine what sort of vacuous, drug-soaked, T-dick riding life I’d be leading if not for they.
Reader, where do you stand on the issue of mammys and babies? In the context of ‘chappell square,’ it raises many questions.

Well there’s a difference between Motherhood and fatherhood. And I’ve often been told “sorry but I’ll never be able to love a husband as much as I love my kids”. I wasn’t cruel enough to reply “yeah, divorced women always say that”.
Its fucking hard work but gets easier.
Relationships are harder and in my experience it’s better to get married later, go “sew your wild oats” (far and wide), then settle down.
And if you want to take relationship advice from a stranger, make “I love you” (or “te amo” if you prefer) be the first and last words you say every day.
It’s impossible to hate your partner if you do that.
Amen.
“Well there’s a difference between Motherhood and fatherhood.” One is capitalized?
Barton, s kids saved him from T dick?
That’s a story unto itself right there Derek
Occy’s kids didn’t save him from Sarge. Derek would know.
Can’t Get some some when you’re HotToGo… must be the because you’re 4.5 on the scale. You’d think the beer goggles would bring you back up to an 8.
As long as we don’t mention those parents who god deemed lucky enough to be rape children, or mentally handicapped , or adolescent cancer victims or still born, the parents of those kids were chosen to make the lucky rest of us understand that life isn’t fucking easy and its not a fucking case of reading the bible everyday, that was written before the drugwars and global warming
Love my kids. But stoked that they are grown and I have money again
Dunno about the Mammies bit, but the blokes I know who never become Daddies and still try to live like they’re young are generally the most miserable people I’ve met.
They might try and hide it through still surfing heaps, still going out partying heaps and still having heaps of girlfriends, but it’s blatantly obvious they’re miserable.
Oh how sometimes I wish I was that miserable too.
And sometimes, ‘more’ than sometimes.
But then I’ll talk to my daughter(30) and somehow aren’t too fussed about the extracurricular times I may have missed out on, or the attraction of being ‘that’ miserable.
At least temporarily.
Oh well…
with you.
sometimes I think back on my single life days of traveling, surfing, partying, etc, but none of what I thought was happiness comes close to the joy of spending time with my children.
as papa’s we have a different role and different experience than our wives.
The incredible Mrs. Camper was very successful when we met. she gave it all away to marry me and have children, and she never regrets it one day whether good times or hard times. she is one of the most amazing people I’ve ever met bc she’s an amazing mother to our children. she absolutely glows around them.
in my mind, there is nothing more admirable than a loving mother.
btw-you should read some of the comments on Bethany’s post. nothing but love, understanding and compassion for Roan…and Bethany.
My own experience of wife and own attempt at family was the complete opposite of yours by the sounds of it haha.
But nevertheless, having a decent respectful mature kid is definitely worth all the things I went through to get to today (where I look after my 88yr old mother and try to run a farm, but that’s another more miserable story hahaha).
sounds like my attempt at first wife.
massive fail.

Isn’t that the one podcast Hillaryous Harris went on, and they spent like $100,000 to build some stupid set?
I have no idea. I’ve never heard of this Roan person.
I heard a report last night that Harris campaign spent over $9 million for “influencers” to push the whole “brat” marketing campaign.
$2 billion to fall flat her face. sounds like a Disney production.
Likely they had no problems spending that insane amount of money because it was taxpayer money that had travelled the world through USAID, then into a spider’s web of NGO’s eventually landing in the petty cash drawer of Soros who then funneled it into Dem Super Pacs
on the same podcast, and this dovetails into Dez article, they discussed the release of the investigation into the gender dysphoria “it” that killed three children and three staff in the Nashville Covenant school shooting.
what they did not release was the diary filled with it’s self righteous, self absorbed hatred of children, families, men and Jesus.
