"I see tremendous opportunity to create impactful, purpose-driven partnerships that connect brands to this culture in authentic, meaningful ways."
It has been a difficult few years to be a fan of professional surfing at it’s highest level. The World Surf League, formerly based in Santa Monica, now who knows where, eviscerated its former CEO Erik “ELo” Logan, much loved for wearing the skin of timid champions, dispatched the bygone commissioner Jessi Miley-Dyer with barely a wink and moved “Finals Day” from Lower Trestles to Fiji without asking anyone.
Difficult times.
Understood, then, the unbridled joy reverberating through the surf world as it announced its latest Chief Revenue Officer.
The World Surf League (WSL) today announced the appointment of Nicole Metzger as Chief Revenue Officer. Metzger joins the WSL with more than two decades of commercial leadership experience across professional and collegiate sports where she has driven transformational revenue growth, high-impact brand partnerships, and innovative licensing strategies at some of the world’s most recognized sports organizations. In this role, Metzger will oversee the WSL’s global partnerships, licensing, and business development functions, while leading efforts to advance the league’s commercial strategy. Additionally, she will lead the Partnership team to drive innovation through business development and partnership strategy.
Metzger most recently served as the Chief Sales and Partnerships Officer for the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), driving revenue and overseeing partnership strategy. In her role, Metzger led the Partnership teams to cultivate innovative global partnerships across the LPGA, including securing breakthrough women’s sports lifestyle collaborations that garnered national attention. Metzger is a commercial leader with experience in optimizing assets, scaling revenue, and modernizing sales structures to maximize performance. Metzger’s ability to connect sports properties with global brands to drive revenue and generate purpose-led partnerships will have an instrumental role in the WSL’s continued growth and success.
“Nicole brings significant experience and success in sports partnerships and revenue generation to the WSL,” said Ryan Crosby, Chief Executive Officer. “She is joining us at a pivotal time, as we look to expand our global footprint through our commercial partnerships. Nicole’s extensive background in driving partnerships through innovative approaches will no doubt progress our continued growth and future success.”
“I am absolutely thrilled to join the WSL at such a dynamic moment for the league and the sport,” said Nicole Metzger, Chief Revenue Officer. “Surfing is not just a sport—it’s a global lifestyle with an incredibly passionate and engaged community. I see tremendous opportunity to create impactful, purpose-driven partnerships that connect brands to this culture in authentic, meaningful ways. I’m honored to help lead the WSL into its next phase of growth and global influence.”
Metzger’s diverse senior leadership positions include her role as Vice President, Partnerships, Activation, Analytics, and Special Events Miami Dolphins, where she co-led the negotiation of one of the largest NFL stadium naming rights deals for Hard Rock Stadium. During her time with the Charlotte Hornets as Vice President, Partnership Development, she secured the franchise’s first-ever jersey patch sponsorship. She also worked for the NBA Team Marketing & Business Operations (TMBO), where she was hand-selected by Commissioner David Stern to support the Sacramento Kings’ ownership transition and drive commercial strategies to fund a new arena. Prior to her role with the LPGA, she served as the Chief Revenue Officer at JMI Sports/Clemson University, where she expanded multimedia rights and launched the Clemson Campus Digital Network.
Chicken skin, to quote the great Joe Turpel.

May be we could add golf tees, to our existing coffee and esky sponsors
Awesome, sounds like she crushed it there. Sophie G 2.0.
“While the LPGA has seen significant growth in overall revenue and player earnings, there are indications that sponsorship revenue might be facing some challenges. Specifically, the LPGA is projected to lose $2 million in 2024, and while this is partly attributed to increased investment in infrastructure and staff, some reports suggest it also highlights a potential disconnect between increased spending and the return on investment, particularly in sponsorship deals. ”
Haha…golf
Exactly what surfing needs. Another fucking golfer.
Women’s golf >= women’s tennis – and good luck at being the next commercial sophie goldschmidt

woah “transforming any business need into a creative opportunity” sounds more like a threat than a promise to me!
current seppo corpo babble is out of this world man!
So a VAL with a new softop.
Just a VA as she hasn’t learned how to surf yet but she has studied videos of Elo at WSL events and has the lingo nailed!
I only learnt what synergy meant last year.
It is has been corporate ism for we will fail forward as a team while I as your boss will take credit for your work. And of course I might be banging the SVP of Marketing at every conference…
Is that some evangelical term for being a BAD PERSON but with, like, ‘riz’?
I believe that.
I still don’t know.
Guess it’s true, there truly is nothing you can’t order using Amazon Prime. Hell, they even have CFO’s available for overnight delivery.
The WSL, where mediocre corporate careers go to die! I hear the Vegas over/under on her time at the WSL is 23 months. I’ll take the under as the economic downturn in the US won’t serve to benefit third tier professional sports like surfing.
Maybe she’ll head over to US Skiing next to help speed up the downward spiral Sophie has engineered with the program for everyone not named Mikaela!
Mate you finally peaked, “much loved for wearing the skin of timid champions” you can fade off into the sunset now.
Such a cunt haha.
Xox
How long till Ryan’s finger blasting her at a Coldplay gig?
Pauline Metzger
She sounds like a pro. Aloha, Kaipo.
I’m first:
Letter to Metzger:
Please show a side by side of the surfing while displaying ads.
Please end “woke” agendas and focus on surfing
Please hire new commentators. nothing kills a brand like Joey T.
Thank you for your attention to the matter
Will you sell out and buy the cool kid Lexus SUV with the surf rack when she delivers the goods?
Nope. at my age if you’re still strapping boards to the top for car/suv, you’re doing something wrong.
I can fit multiple boards in my mom van. open the back door, shove em’ in and go.
also, makes for a nice bed if you have to spend the night somewhere.
Smart! I suspect mom is ok with a little wax and sand in the van.
my van, my sand.
the exquisite Mrs. Camper drives the nice car.
I still find the late 80s Toyota vans to be one of the greatest ever built and Mrs Madeoff also always has the nicest vehicle
I told my young-ones, if there’s no beach-sand in your car or van—you’re doing something wrong….

Let me translate that for you
‘Surfing’s not just a sport. It’s a degenerate black hole populated by narcissists and misanthropes. I see tremendous opportunity to exploit the myopic support of these backwater hicks with ill-fitting and tokenistic corporate partnerships that won’t be worth the email they’re signed on. I’m honoured to lead the WSL further down the garden path of mainstream acceptance it so desperately seeks but will never obtain, while ignoring the fact surfing could stand on its own two legs if we only treated it with respect and understanding instead of trying to shoehorn it into an action sports model it will never fit. Yew!”
Your post is wildly offensive! But only because I didn’t think of it first!
YEW!
