Daiquiris hit different on deck.
Oh to be a wealthy environmentalist having it all. Flying on private jets around the world to attend climate change conferences, owning fleets of brand new eco-friendly vehicles which are traded for fleets of brand newer eco-friendly vehicles after the gentlest use. Mansions dotting the globe each featuring at least some solar panelling and the coup de grace, spending much time on the blue ocean waters, enjoying the bleached coral and over-fishing from the deck of a diesel-powered mega-yacht.
Leonardo DiCaprio is, of course, the gold standard for wealthy environmentalism but if reports from Fiji are to be believed, the world’s greatest surfer Kelly Slater is not far behind.
The 11x world champion is, of course, in Fiji with family because. The World Surf League is also there, with its five final men and five final women professional surfers. David Lee Scales’ pal is there too and, according to him, Slater is spending the cocktail hour enjoying non-alcoholic spritzes at the bar of a mega-yacht that was sailed in from New Zealand for that express purpose.
It is not Slater’s mega-yacht, just like Jeff Bezos‘ is not Leonardo DiCaprio’s, giving the wealthy environmentalist the perfect amount of shine.
No one is apparently staying on the yacht, except the crew, but cocktails hit different in the saloon.
Scales shared that nugget during our weekly chat wherein we also discussed if FaceTime is superior to regular phone calls and became amazed by the story of a woman who was able to flawlessly talk with a cigarette in her mouth.
Worth a listen.
These billionaires get my goat.
For a sec I thought you were talking about David Rastovich or “Rasto” as he’s better known. The enviro warrior previously sponsored by a multinational company, jetting around the world burning carbon credits like a giant flamethrower to environmental talk fests and surfing far flung perfect waves that the rest of us non worthy heathens can’t afford. Appearing in Stab magazine to chastise us about our habits of eating food on Tuesdays as we toil for 10 hours at our bricklaying jobs while “Rasto” sits around pondering which angle he looks best in for his next photo shoot. Then I realised that Patagonia has downgraded his lifestyle akin to a 80’s dole bludger but with quivers of shiny new boards and a wardrobe of new threads, sunglasses and a gas gussling SUV. Apparently he lost his hybrid vehicle in his divorce settlement.
Non alcohol bull shit… I’m on your yacht I’m getting fucked up
You could ask kiwis if it’s true, when somone with over 500 instagram followers enters the country it’s headline news.
Lies, damned lies, and bullshit.
And you know it Chazzstar.

NO ONE (other than evangelistic Mormons and Muslims) spends the cocktail hour enjoying non-alcoholic spritzers* at any bar anywhere, especially not on a mega-yacht, and doubly especially not on one that sailed to Fiji from its closest civilised booze-drenched southern neighbour.

All persons on-board would be enjoying multiple proper cocktails, like my famous ‘Golden Gooch’, made with 1 part home-distilled golden dark rum, a big squeeze of lemon juice, 1 part orange juice, 2 parts Indian tonic water, and ice.
(as seen above, and ideal for any time of day, or night)
*Not “spritzes” (sic)..
Doing the damned backpacker thing I once sailed from Colombia to Panama. After four hectic nights at sea in a Caribbean storm, subsiding on two min noodles and some scrappy fish we had caught, we finally limped into the San Blas islands to be presented with a mega yacht moored off a deserted island and a full blown beach party taking place on shore. An A list Hollywood couple had booked the yacht but cancelled at the last minute, leaving the crew with a week’s worth of provisions and no place to go. We joined in on the fiesta of lobster, champagne and whatever else Hollywood reptilians subside on while some jerk off DJ provided the Ibiza style beats. The with a snap of the captains finger the crew packed up and fucked off, leaving us back alone on the beach wondering if we had imagined the whole thing.
And then I found $50
Yep, waves are decent, Jack is out there shredding, yet no live comments, Chas lollygagging.

Watching this makes me want to put money on Caroline. Backsiders looking out of sorts.
Turpel dropping “flowstate”. Time to practice muting.
Non alcoholic spritzes? I’d be doing drunken back flips off the deck as well as a loosey goosy paddle out if I wasn’t competing.
The goat has earned into way into the elite cabal. Without question. Whilst there he can do good. The first bloke who made surfing count in the outer world.
Rules for thee, not for me.
