Yago Dora, Molly Picklum, Cloudbreak, Strider Wasilewski and his magic microphone duck diving trick, all but disappeared. And out the windshield (or windscreen)? Nothing but desolation. A bleak and empty horizon with no end in sight.
Yes, the 2026 World Surf League Championship Tour season should have begun in January, a fourth month break in action that surf fans already found emotionally difficult. Except this year, after many changes to the schedule, it will begin April 1 at Bells Beach in Australia’s bottom.
An almost impossible-to-deal-with eight months.
A long winter of discontent in the northern hemisphere.
A long summer of depression in the southern.
Well, as everyone knows, idle hands are the devil’s playground and surf fans are finding their fingers opening unfortunate browsers, their eyes consuming the ISA’s dirty World Surfing Games in El Salvador.
Ever the whore, professional surfing has zero problem embracing the Central American country’s soon-to-be forever president, Nayib Bukele, and his jail-loving spirit. The ISA, which promises “a better world through surfing,” features nearly 300 surfers from 61 countries including Sally Fitzgibbons, Leandro Usana and Dimitri Papavassiliou.
Gabriel Medina’s baby sister Sophia will also be making her debut.

el sal and punta hermosa, Peru were two spots I used to enjoy because they were a quick hop, easy to get to and lots of spots to pick from. now I have to see if the fucken isa games is there before I book a ticket everytime. I feel like they take over these spots at least 3-4x a year. might be worse than the wsl and way more people too
Challenger series gets a pipe event in January so that’ll be interesting watching half of them get smashed.
