Another in a long line of ethically questionable kits.
Canada’s former prime minister Justin Trudeau continued a wild spree of controversial costumes, days ago, when he dressed up as a surfer-eating shark for Halloween. Posting the outfit to Instagram, the 53-year-old shared, “Ready for Halloween with Hadrien: he’s the surfer, I’m the shark (to his left). We built the costume together — a little father-son Halloween teamwork.”
While some were tickled by the bit of family bonding, most were pleased with the clear nod to Trudeau’s current girlfriend, the chanteuse Katy Perry.
Rumors flew back and forth across the increasingly hostile U.S.-Canada border about the possible paring when the two were snapped engaging in a steamy make-out sesh off surf-rich Santa Barbara some two weeks ago. Those rumors were substantiated when, days later, the couple emerged from a restaurant, or some such, holding hands after celebrating Perry’s 41st birthday.
You will recall, of course, when Perry performed for the Super Bowl Halftime Show one decade ago to the thrill of football fans far and wide. One song which most pleased was her Teenage Dream wherein two dancing sharks appeared on stage next to her and went viral.
Cute o’clock.
Trudeau’s wink to his lady love, in any case, follows a long line of his winks to others. Like a funk singer, Aladdin and a wild and an excited black teenager.

Oops.
“I take responsibility for my decision to do that. I shouldn’t have done it. I should have known better. It was something that I didn’t think was racist at the time, but now I recognise it was something racist to do and I am deeply sorry,” he said after those costumes were revealed six-ish years ago.
Do you think he will apologize to the surf community for mocking our eating?
