“A dad boating his kids were trying to get back into the bay. Panicked when he realized where he was, gunned it to try and get through, sent it straight into the lineup.”
A family of six, including four chillun aged four to ten, have had the ride of their lives, and almost their final stanza on earth, after the the skipper of their boat tried to bring ‘em back into Santa Cruz harbour through a heaving Steamer Lane lineup.

The lil boat, a fifteen-foot centre console by one excellent account from a surfer there, went a little too broadside and was flipped, sending all six into the water.
Surfers rallied around and pulled everyone on the boat, including the four children, to safety.
“6 people went into the water. All were rescued and put in 2 boats and brought to the harbor and into waiting ambulances to go to Dominican.”
I feel for Daddy, if it was Daddy driving the boat, ’cause I blown it on jetskis, water taxis and whatever else floats, real easy to do.
What’ve you flipped lately?

At least we don’t have a united states day like you guys. We get creative and call it 4th of July. Ya bogan cunts.
I flipped the bird
Fuck he was sending it though , technical flow and commitment if he had landed that floater it would have gone into the excellent range , what do you think Joe ? Well it was well within his wheel house and that boat was looking good under his feet i just dont think going to turns on that section is what the judges are looking for on a day like to day.
JBay boat guy needs to be doing lessons.
I bet that wave morphed into a 200 yard freight train from Indicator to Cowells
You’d think but that wave is only good on big south swell, mushy shit otherwise.
Gwen’s wheel house
The Indicator mushy shit in winter? Respectfully disagree. I grew up there it’s epic on a big straight west with good sand.
Cowells might be mushy maybe that’s what you meant
Clueless. The Lane is in no way on a path back to the harbor.
that’s what I was thinking. harbor mouth would have been a shit show too though on a day like that?
That’s the scenic route
Apparently there were modelo beer cans floating in the water after the boat flipped, not a good look there “Dad”…
Glad all 4 kids were rescued and the capsized boat didn’t clock any surfers.
Pete Mussio just destroyed Cove…. destroyed.
Britt got second in his waveless heat Maurice…. you know Britt, hobby shaper? Might have heard of his company. Anyway, looked stiff and gained weight. Probably from not picking up a planer….. 🙂
What time is your heat? I don’t recall seeing you out there.
I hiked from home and filmed three heats.
First heat was bombing, no waves in the 8;30 heat and it slowed even more for the beginning of the 3rd heat…. 8;00 heat scored. It was pumping.
Saw Ryan’s heat, don’t know that he caught a wave…. those guys had to watch the heat before them and were drooling. It was fucking perfect. Swell is dying before the eyes now.
Blinded by patriotism
an omelet…
Looks like he was trying to backdoor a non existent barrel.
Typical weekend special sport boat Barney. Prob sweeps a SUP too.
Youngest child is said to have remarked to first responders: “Dad said he knew what he was doing. I guess this means Santa Claus doesn’t exist neither, eh!”
Fuck no, Daddy’s a clown who was either being a dick and/or doesn’t know the area well enough to be there with a swell running, especially with children on board.
No thought about safety, a fool.
Never flipped a boat m’self (only a car as a teenager 😁).
Lifelong water safety (drilled into me by a Navy Officer father, and sailing mother, as a child) is about the only thing I’m actually sensible about of anything in life (when the wave breaks here, don’t be there) haha.
Heck I had my daughter on the helm of my 33′ ketch since she was 5yrs (in a safety harness) while I’d go below to get lunch etc when no one else was onboard.
Ya just gotta have things planned out and know where ya are, and where ya headed etc…
You need a boat in your hood
I feel for daddy, he ain’t getting any sex for a longtime.
Xox
Distressed kitchen monkey…” I flip burgers for Mitch…I haven’t had a day off in 14 months”
The critical thing to happen in that burger of a wave in years.
