“You said that we were gonna go get dinner. I told you that I didn’t even want to go surfing in the first place?”
Dating these days is rough, or so they say. Between an inept pool, financial strains and dating applications, it is near impossible to find a love match, or so I hear. Nothing, though, could be worse than Olivia Knox’s recent experience as she was press ganged into a completely unwanted surfing experience.
The Los Angeles resident recounted meeting a man on Hinge and telling him, directly, that she did not want to surf on their first outing. The man, though, had other plans, picking her up and immediately driving the 90 minutes to Newport Beach. Once there, he popped the trunk revealing two wetsuits inside. She told him, again, that she did not want to surf so he paddled by himself even though, according to her, there were “barely any waves.”
Then it started raining.
Knox became very bummed, though eventually her suitor returned, angry that she hadn’t been watching him. She told him her feet hurt and she wanted dinner. He took her to McDonald’s and ordered an Oreo McFlurry.
She thought it was over, at that point, but her date had a fever only more surf could cure so drove even further south and paddled again. After he was finished, it took them over two and a half hours to drive back to Los Angeles.
At some point, he grabbed her hand and made her touch his moustache.
Even though it was an absolute nightmare, Knox has not given up on Hinge.
The question I have: Is the mystery man here, with us, commenting right now?
