We truly do live in the future where cars are driver-less, meat is plant proteins and chonks can get barreled at Teahupo’o from the comfort of their couches. But just last month, and every month before it, chonks had to fly to Tahiti then hire a car to take them to “the end of the road.” Once there, they had to hitch a boat ride into that fearsome channel, paddle into the lineup, swing on a watery beast and let it swing right over them in order to get a glimpse from inside of that magical tube.
As of October 1st, that vision can be experienced via the virtual reality headset Apple Vision Pro and all thanks to Red Bull.
Shot in 3D at 8K with a 180-degree field of view and Spatial Audio, Big-Wave Surfing was filmed in Apple Immersive by Salt + Air Studios and utilized the likes of Michel Bourez, Molly Picklum, Jack Robinson, Matahi Drollet and more.
“Filming in Apple Immersive really pushed us as filmmakers. The swell, wind and weather all had to cooperate, and we needed the athletes and cameras in the right place when that opportunity came. Any little shake and you lose the viewer. We had to put ourselves in the right spot even if it meant getting swallowed [by the wave], because one drop on the lens ruins the shot,” Salt + Air Studios declared.

Yes I am Chas. I am going to sell all my boards, and my soul, and drive frantically to the Apple Store up on the Goldy to purchase one of these life changing devices.
Not only will it stop me having to get up in the dark at stupid o’clock in the hope of getting a quick hour in the water before work it will also eliminate the very real possibility of me getting chomped to death by a very large and angry shark. Best of all though it means my car will never again be full of all that disgusting sand that just seems to get everywhere

Let’s face it, the best trips are usually hard work, and there is often the making of lemonade from lemons.
Like getting cheated out of your chosen class of rental car and served with a Mitsubishi Mirage, which I cursed until I saw the fuel mileage.
As with any good rental car it got put through the paces and got us where we needed to go.
