Great White attack

“Very high chance of shark attack” Perth beaches to remain unsafe for weeks after whale stranding

"Those sharks want to eat and they know the beach is the place to feed."

The death of a happy whale is always a terribly sad event and Western Australians gathered en masse to pay their respects to the forty-foot Humpback that washed ashore on Perth’s shores five days ago.

Large Great White sharks, fifteen feet long or so and with the girth of elephants, were quickly on the scene with at least one expert theorising the White that ate a swimmer whole at nearby Sorrento ten days earlier, thrashing the unfortunate soul to and fro in front of shocked onlookers, was among the sharks feeding on the corpse.

So many Great Whites, as one Perth surfer explained, that it was hitherto unseen in modern history.

It’ll be nostalgic explaining to our kids and grandkids what it was like growing up in WA when we had such a strong beach and surf culture. It’ll be hard for them to imagine what life was like before the imbalance changed everything.

Important to note that Perth beaches will now remain unsafe for weeks due to something called leeching, the whale’s oil seeping into the sand and water thereby making it an attractive proposition for the Great White shark which, as we know, is a protected species and has only one predator, the formidable Orca.

As BeachGrit fav Joel Nancarrow puts it:

Just a tip for those over in WA!!!!!!

Who ever decided to leave that whale on the sand for days needs to wake up to themselves.

Hopefully it’s been put out there over the radios and tv already but that whale would have been leaking oil into the sand the whole time it was there.

It would have leeched down for meters, that sand will be full of oil now for weeks at a minimum, those sharks will be able to smell it and know there is/was an easy feed on that beach. There is now an burley trail running 24/7 from the sand and the beach needs to be CLOSED to swimmers for a month minimum, unless they are going to get a truck of degreaser in and dump it in the sand, that oil is thick and sticks to everything.

EDIT!!!!! Be careful on beaches in the area as well, those sharks want to eat and they know the beach is the place to feed. VERY HIGH chance of an attack in that area and beaches in the vicinity over the next few weeks, those sharks are honed in on the beach and know there’s food there!!!!!

The removal of the whale turned into a bit of a hell-show. A day-long effort to shift it failed for lack of the right equipment. It was finally trucked off more than three days after it washed ashore, headed for landfill at Red Hill having lost enough fluid to drop to about eighteen tonnes from thirty-one, about forty percent of its starting mass.

That’s a lot of pimp juice in da sand.

Like, yike!
