Kelly Slater has better jeans than Sydney Sweeney.
You have certainly, by now, stumbled across the Sydney Sweeney brouhaha completely absorbing the public square. In case you live under a rock, or have just come out of a darkness retreat, the story begins with off-brand Abercrombie & Fitch clothing company American Eagle releasing a campaign featuring the 27-year-old it girl talking about/posing in various Canadian tuxedos overlaid with the phrase “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.”
The play between “jeans” and “genes” obviously the point.
Well, certain segments of the population immediately pounced, declaring Sweeney being blonde and blue-eye’d and white and and “great jeans” an obvious and clear Nazi dogwhistle.
As you know, the German national-socialists praised “Aryan” traits, including blonde and blue and white and selectively bred whilst sterilizing or murdering undesirables.
Well, another certain segment of the population found the charge positively ludicrous and vociferously defended American Eagle and Sweeney while denouncing anyone who thought it wasn’t all innocent fun.
Enter Kelly Slater.
Surfing’s winningest ever is generally not far away from the spotlight’s bright shine and here he is, once again. The multi-hyphenate businessman owns his own clothing company, which just so happens to make denim.
It may shock you to know that I own two pairs and have worn them, regularly, over the past year. They are comfortable, stylish, neat and vastly superior to anything American Eagle makes.
In a word or eight, Kelly Slater has better jeans than Sydney Sweeney.
What do you make of them apples?
