It’s been almost one month since BeachGrit covered, breathless it could be accurately described, the wedding of the House of Gucci’s Leonardo Fioravanti and flaxen tressed model Sophia Wilson.
It took place, you’ll remember, in an Italian castle called Castello di Bracciano overlooking Lake Bracciano alongside a cavalcade of surf stars including but certainly not limited to, his best pal Jack Robinson, Bells winner Cole Houshmand, the powerfully built Hawaii star of The Ultimate Surfer Zeke Lau (who can ignore those full rounds breasts sculpted by God and which rivet the eye), Moroccan Ramzi Boukhiam, the pride of Japan and Tokyo, Kanoa Igarashi, the pride of Cronulla and Kyoto, Connor O’Leary, and, possibly although hard to ID in the photos, aged comedian Benji Weatherley.
The virtues of marriage were discussed below the line, of course, with the most profound leaking from one reader who wrote, “Hanging in there. For better or worse.”
Now, Vogue Italia, a powerhouse in the fashion world for sixty years and one not shy of swinging into the culture wars, has lavished the Fioravantis – the magazine profile Leo’s debut with House of Gucci two years ago – with a dazzling spread in their very famous glossy pages.
As the couple’s wedding planner writes,
“(Their) wedding was nothing short of unforgettable. A day where timeless elegance met pure joy, every moment reflected the beauty of their love. In the intramontable setting of Castello di Bracciano, history and romance embraced their celebration, creating an atmosphere that was as majestic as it was intimate.
“Every detail was curated with intention, from the flowers to the music, transforming the day into a living portrait of their story. A love told through design, emotion, and unforgettable memories — celebrated by Vogue as one of the most elegant weddings of the season.
Ominously, Castello di Bracciano is where a famous tale of adultery and a subsequent murder took place. Isabella de’ Medici – the Medici’s were one of the most famous dynasties in Europe – was married to Paolo Giordano Orsini, Duke of Bracciano.
Their union soured ’cause gal liked dick and got busted gettin’ railed by cuz Troilo Orsini. Enraged by this betrayal, and maybe not real hot on having to raise a disabled kid if Trol’s seed kicked, Paolo returned unannounced and, in a private chamber, strangled Isabella with a cord.
The Medici hushed up the scandal; Paolo faced no justice.
