Well wow. But who could forget, two months ago now, when all hell broke absolutely loose in the airline industry. Oh, this was pre-government shutdown and had nothing to do with radical left democrats nor spineless republicans but rather one brave longboard traditionalist. This incident sparked discussions about joel tudor hawaiian airlines and their policies.

But the power of rage. Hawaiian just moments ago announced a change to its guidelines, posting on its website:
We developed our new policy to accommodate all surfers: thrill-seekers tracking large seasonal surf and bringing big surfboards on strike missions to places like Tahiti and Mexico, families looking for year-round warm water and gentle waves to longboard (Costa Rica, anyone?), or guests venturing into the far reaches of our network to explore coastlines in Australia, American Samoa, the Cook Islands, Japan and New Zealand.
Hawaiian spokesman Alex Da Silva told Civil Beat that Tudor’s words stung. “We always say we value guest feedback,” he declared. “And it’s not something we just say. Every guest interaction is an opportunity for us to get better.”
Tudor, for his part, took a victory lap, saying, “Victories are pretty rare with airlines. This one we actually won.”

I’ve been charged oversize for both double and triple boardbags < 6’3 on top of normal fees a few times now. More and more agents are pulling out the tape measures and fact is many board bags exceed the linear inches allowance.
As always money talks and bullshit walks. And that is the bottom line

Longboards (and long boards in Chas’ case) shouldn’t be allowed on planes unless on a cargo flight because travelling to ride a longboard (or long board in Chas’ case) is a foolish endeavor.
Hard to beat sitting on a Garuda or SMAC flight in the non-smoking section while cloves waft forward from the smoking section 1 row behind you.
But did Joel get reimbursed in any way?
