The Dem congress gal, Katie Porter, famous for flipping California’s 45th district blue in 2018, has been outed as a talented longboarder on X.
“California’s beautiful beaches. No elaboration necessary. See here. Yes, that is me,” writes the self-described “Minivan-driving single mom, law professor, consumer advocate.”
In the photo we see the graceful brunette, wearing a red-and-white striped rash shirt and with her famous curves inflating a classic black one-piece, tearing hell out of a clean Californian wave.
Responses, naturally for the popular politician, were uniformly positive.
“Is there anything she can’t do?” writes Ban Assault Weapons.
“You are braver than I, Katie,” opined La Vie Eat Belle.
Others:
“Slayed it!” and “Wow” and “We are quite beautiful” and “Brave girl respect to you.”
Katie Porter, who is fifty-one but looks ten years younger, has been in the news today after an interview with CBS about her gubernatorial aspirations went viral, as they say.
A resurfaced 2021 video showed her yelling “Get out of my fucking shot” at a staffer during a Biden admin call.
Old allegations revived: ex-staff claimed racial slurs and mockery; her 2023 divorce filing accused her of scalding her ex-husband with hot potatoes (she denies). A 2022 clip of her calling pedophilia an “identity” fueled outrage.

Alaska is the largest state in the US.
Anyone can be a “professor” in a US university. In the rest of the world there’s one professor for the entire department (with a few old fogies thrown the “emeritus professor” title as an honorarium after they have retired).
Lastly: Derek you’re going to have to come up with something more radical to get us arguing properly.

Every person listed with a PR after their name is a professor in the political science department of the Pantheon Sorbone. Thousands and thousands of other universities around the world are structured the same way. You are misinformed, probably duped by siloed online bullshit that is manipulating semantics (levering trivial differences in wording rather than the core substance of the issue) trying to discredit higher education.
Again, you have no idea what you’re talking about. I spent my career in academia and have worked at overseas universities as well as a domestic R1 institution. You don’t get those jobs if you are some random dumbass. That’s what the internet is for.
Now a drift to the political far left among faculty at universities, that I can agree with. As an average of course across many different viewpoints. But yeah, by the end of my career, the general environment on campus had become much more Marxist and identitarian. I can tell you how that happened, and I can tell you why I didn’t like it and decided to retire early.
But this general idea you are putting forward that any dipshit can become a professor is flat out wrong, the product of right-wing misinformation. Universities have always been and still are full of scorchingly intelligent faculty.
Now do it for the English speaking world. Head of Department (or faculty, depending on how they name it) is THE professor (not A professor). Head of school is THE Dean. The rest are either Lecturer or Tutor or don’t teach and have some other non professorial title.
