Byron Bay beach shack
The ol beach shack, main picture, fancy new joint, insets, and O with zillion-time world champ Stephanie Gilmore, also a Byron Bay landholder.

Olympian Owen Wright and pop star wife Kita Alexander list Byron beach shack with $7 mill-plus hopes!

A concrete and timber cubist beach shack with Tesla batto!

It’s been six years now since Owen Wright, the one-time world title contender, bought an unremarkable beach shack a few hundred metres from The Pass in Australia’s Byron Bay for $5.1 million.

Owen Wright and Kita Alexander saw more than the Morning of the Earth country soul utopia.

For O and K, the little idyllic timber beach shack surrounded by almost half-an-acre of grass and trees where vegetables are grown and chickens are humanely employed to harvest their protein-rich eggs, was ripe to be bulldozed and developed to create something greater.

Owen, who survived a traumatic brain injury at Pipe in 2015 as well as having a slice of his fortune swindled by a horse racing enthusiast a couple of years back, saw a fleet of four cubist villas built of concrete and timber and with Tesla batteries and swimming pools and gardens that “blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living to create a refined subtropical sanctuary ideal for all seasons.”

He went from brain damage to surfing glory! 👏🏻

Three years back, when the four cubist masterpieces were completed, O and the other developer kept one apiece, and the others were sold for $6.5 mill.

O and Kita and chillun were gonna stay but according to the real estate press, they’re shipping out to their next adventure.

The joint is in a part of  Byron that allows 365-day-a-year holiday letting with a potential gross of 200 gees a year on vacay rentals.

“A rare opportunity to secure your own private sanctuary surrounded by some of the world’s most iconic beaches – The Pass, Clarkes, Wategos, Main Beach and Tallow Beach,” according to the sales lit.

“Inside, roasted peat blackbutt flooring, stone benchtops and bespoke finishes exude understated elegance. All four bedrooms feature custom-built walnut veneer joinery and private balconies, while two luxurious master suites each include ensuites – with one boasting a generous walk-in robe and a luxe bath for indulgent relaxation.

“A second living space on the upper level offers a peaceful retreat for quiet moments or family connection. Home chefs will be inspired by the bespoke designer kitchen, showcasing an induction cooktop, extended stone benchtops, wine fridge and a walk-in pantry – beautifully balancing style and functionality.

A double garage, additional storage and separate laundry provide effortless practicality, while solar power accompanied by a Tesla battery ensures sustainable, energy-efficient living without compromise.

Agent is talking six-five mill, but think seven plus, I mean the joint even got a Tezzy batto, even if the Byron market is starting to teeter a little.

Owen and his storied sis and bro were last on these pages in March when their family home on the beach at Skenners Head a little outh of Byron fetched a staggering $4.5 million.

The joint at 5 Skennars Road, Skennars Head, was built back when the little sub-division was all undulating green fields and long before the place got turned into the usual shitbox housing development that pockmarks Australia.

The place got listed for sale when family patriarch Rob Wright’s dementia got so bad his boy Owen, who’d been caring for him for the last five years, had to put him into a dementia unit.

I doubt if we’ll see a family like the Wrights within surfing ever again, at least in my lifetime.

Three surfers on the tour, including a duel world champ, and all of ’em with their own aesthetic.

For added spice, mysterious illnesses have derailed two thirds of the pack. These include Owen’s so-rare-it-didn’t-have-a-name delayed brain trauma that resulted in a push for compulsory helmets and Tyler’s potentially career-ending Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Ongoing spinal issues with Mikey, meanwhile, has kept that firecracker’s fuse unlit.

I don’t get it, do you share the mini-pool with your 3 cubist neighbors, some sort of HOA deal?

Hippy

House looks like a cheap motel

@TheRealJackMeoff

Kind of like the feel of a bunch of shipping containers stacked neatly into a living abode, but without the strength and about 6.5 million over budget.

longtomssecondcuztwiceremoved

hhhmmmm…..last time I did a drive-by places still looked like they were being finished.

Did he even move in?

If so it was for 365 days and not a day more to get the CGT discount for the family home.

I mean, smart play- if you have big money better off buying and selling real estate so wifey can relax with the music career knowing bank account is heading north.

Much smarter than playing clothing magnate- fuck holding inventory and trying to keep pace with that market.

But, then ,is there a happier man than Dane Reynolds? Critic fav, cute shop to hang out in, label starting to kick.

longtomssecondcuztwiceremoved

If Courtney is happy and the kids are thriving, then he’s happy.

The best going round

Gwen Walz’s Eyes

Guy seems like a real surfer.

Strayan Cunt

As a carpenter/supervisor I really enjoy these articles on properties in close proximity to where I live, cheers Dez

The Bitchy Crab

You ever do a little buildin’ down Bondi way?

Strayan Cunt

Haha na mate but if you ever want to move to Gods country up here on the border I have you fully covered with everything you would ever need. Leave the freezing cold rat race down there and come up and get pumping, uncrowded waves in pristine warm water. As I’m sure as you are already aware Byron is equally as gay and all inclusive as Bondi haha

The Bitchy Crab

Bondi so trad family now! But, yeah, it does cross my mind.

Strayan Cunt

Once you make the move you would never look back mate

longtomssecondcuztwiceremoved

Don’t encourage him.

Strayan Cunt

Hahahaahha

Strayan Cunt

I have soooo many mates from Avalon who have made the move and now wonder why it took them sooo long to take the plunge and just do it. Yeh its expensive up here now but nothing like down there and your money would go a lot further up here

KRIS

… t’was in Sydney recently (AC/DC gig) !!!
That City nearly killed me two decades back – it would most certainly kill without mercy now… eastern ‘burb fashionista types are still cute to gawk, but the joint is SERIOUSLY FISTED!

Hippy

Uncrowded?

longtomssecondcuztwiceremoved

b-grade beachies.

Capt Sensible

Once A grade surfbreaks have all been downgraded to C minus , due to over exposure by the surf industry and overcrowding by the kooks that followed.
B grade is the new A grade.

Strayan Cunt

I surf pumping beachies on me own or with a cuppla mates all the time. Just gotta stay away from the superwank and the Goldie

KRIS

… question the ‘uncrowded’ part of that equation. Sure, waaaaaaaaay less crowded than Sydney, but still fucken crook! Plus, no genuine reprieve from the northerly…

Stick man

Go eat $7 Million diiicks while yer at it!

The Bitchy Crab

Who’s got the time!
