I understand that some don’t believe that the Jews deserve their own homeland. And I understand that many of these same people don’t believe that Israel should be allowed to defend itself.
Which begs the question: Where would you have them go? What would you have them do? I hate to guess.
I suppose there will always be people who cannot extend to the Jews the same compassion they so boastfully extend to other minorities. After all, the Jews are too naturally hardworking and therefore successful to deserve the same compassion as the hopeless and the unsuccessful.
Which is, simultaneously, antisemitic and racist.
In their juvenile, elitist, and spoiled simplicity, many among us can only understand things in terms of the narratives they consume at the time. Told what to think, they respond so obediently, regurgitating the most recent phrases and talking points, trying to appear like they know what they’re talking about when they don’t. Subconsciously validating themselves and justifying their own meagre self-worth. It’s never actually about the people or issues they say they care about. It’s always about them, being seen as worthwhile and good people.

Like toddlers trying to comprehend a fairy tale, they become convinced they know who the goodies and baddies are, and narcissistically cast themselves in the heroic leading role. They imagine themselves as the saviours. When it is they that need saving.
They creep around, waiting to see others like themselves, then clump together and pile on, celebrating their oh-so-rebellious pseudo-intellectual behaviour. And while, as usual, in their confusion, their hearts bleed for the wrong people, the perpetrators, they demonise the victims.
But in time, the murderous ones they have supported will come for them. They always do. Even then, it’s doubtful they will be able to admit they were wrong.
It’s a story as old as time itself. It’s the story of Cain and Abel. It is a resentment-driven ideology.
The irony is excruciating. Their wilful blindness is infuriating.
But we must continue to love them as they continue to hate us. The age-old lesson the Jews continue to role model is holding firm to the truth, and not doing things just so people will like you, but because you know what is right.
The irony of Israel and Gaza being alongside one another geographically is no coincidence. They bring out the best and worst in each other. It’s beyond Shakespearean, it’s Biblical. The very best and worst of humanity, demonised and idolised. Those raised to love and those raised to hate. The intergenerationally gentle and the intergenerationally violent. The intelligent and the stupid. Civilisation and Barbarism. Good and evil.
Why do you suppose it is, that not one of the many surrounding Islamic countries will take in a single Palestinian refugee, from what they all call a genocide?
What about the almost two million Muslims, 20% of the population, who live happily in Israel? Compared to the only Jewish person in Gaza, a murdered man whose body they will not release to his family.
Meanwhile, rewarding them with songs, marches and recognising them as a sovereign state, and in the name of “social cohesion”, not prosecuting them for their many crimes, only emboldens and encourages them.
How about the tens of thousands of unprovoked Islamic terrorist attacks on innocent people in peaceful countries all around the world that have welcomed them over the last few decades? Or the tens of thousands of Christians that are slaughtered every year by Muslims in Islamic countries, for no other reason than that they are Christian. And where is anyone’s outrage for any of the other terrible and equally tragic wars that were taking place at the same time?
Are we having trouble with our pattern recognition?
Do we imagine for a moment that the Islamists, when in political power, will be anywhere near as kind, supportive, generous or charitable toward us as we have been toward them?
Is there any historical precedent for this?
Thankfully, due to our freedoms, rights, laws and values, inherited from our Judeo-Christian ancestors, we are, for the moment, still able to be demonstrably wrong in the West, while in Islamic countries, you will be killed for being right.
Oh thank god, would hate to think anything horrible has ever been done in the name of Christianity.

Israel’s Arab citizens are among the best educated, most successful Arabs in the World, only outdone by the oil-rich Gulf Sheikdoms. They have full voting rights, are represented in Parliament, own businesses, etc.
