They're baaaaaaack.
UFOs, or UAPs (Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon) as the government has taken to calling them, have made another stunning appearance on Surfline’s Ventura Point camera. But you recall, days ago, when armchair astronomers across the surfing world were feted with not one, but two difficult-to-explain clips that the wave forecasting giant posted to its Instagram account.
The first, occurring at 4:30 am in Ventura when two almost comically UFO looking UFOs appeared, hovering with a slight tilt over the palms and lapping waves. They disappeared for a moment before being joined by a host of comically UFO looking UFOs. The second, from Newport Beach, doesn’t feature any specific UFO, merely a strange looking beam of light slowly combing the shoreline.
Well, and to be overtly cliche, they are back. The new footage was recorded by Bash Mendes and begins with an extremely fast light dot which then turns into two of those comically UFO looking UFOS. Mendes declaring, “Last night Dec 6 @ 6:10pm Surfline Ventura point cam, check it out. Their mission … To talk to Rob Machado about the new high performance model I’m riding. They said don’t worry we don’t want him back, we just want the boards and @ipdsurf new drop.”
The comments were a mix of disbelief, providing practical explanation, denying practical explanation and making jokes mostly about surfing aliens.
But do you imagine the suits at Surfline’s Huntington Beach headquarters are busily coding UFOline wherein the aforementioned armchair astronomers can log in during the witching hours and study the skies for unnatural oddities?
Would it be more popular than the daytime streaming of waves that convince surfers to not paddle out?
In any case, the UFO hype train has really taken off, of late, with films like The Age of Disclosure convincing there heretofore unbelievers that we are not alone in the universe.
Just to be rude, I hopped over to skeptic.com wherein cold-water-pourer Michael Shermer wrote:
When you don’t actually have concrete evidence that we can all see, your case depends on eyewitness accounts so you must establish that their words are trustworthy and reliable. For example, the intrepid UAP proponent Lue Elizando says:
“If you could be in my shoes and see what I’ve seen, there would be zero shadow of a doubt that these things are real and they are not made by humans.”
The problem is that we can’t be in anyone else’s shoes, so we depend on evidence that does not depend on a single eyewitness. “If only you could have been in my shoes that night when I saw Bigfoot—there would be zero shadow of a doubt….” In science, such anecdotes do not count as evidence; you need to be able to show actual physical evidence—in this case a body of a Bigfoot.
Continuing my biological analogy, in order to name a new species you have to present a type specimen—a holotype—that everyone can see, examine, photograph, analyze, etc. If you gave a talk at a biology conference about how you discovered a new species of bipedal primate, no one would take you seriously if you did not also present unmistakable evidence. If all you had were stories about what you saw, and maybe a couple of out-of-focus videos and grainy photographs, no one would believe you…and for good reason!
How droll.

had a couple of sightings/events.
one in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and the other about 300m from my lanai.
definitely a mind bender.
those aren’t UFO….they’re Tesla’s.
Hey Gila since I can’t respond to your deleted text here was my reply.
And just so you know, I know a thing or two about going off the deep end and self deleting, just ask negs or anyone else here. You are lucky I am not a mod, because if I was I would just reprint your comments like I did below.
I get your point and all fair, but best to throw down at the time and leave it there.

Why is everyone my mate now?
Well your first clue was that he has been absent.
If you responded like this to his shit and left it to stand undeleted then you wouldn’t look like the last guy in line at the gang bang.
At least you are manning up now to me, that’s a good start.
You’re a man of the people Jack and everyones mate so just lap it up cunt haha
Thanks mate but I am just a man, with all my flaws on full display.
In a way BG reminds me of my first impression of Sunset.
A surreal playing field that has had so many different lines drawn on it by so many different souls that have passed through. A timeless and endless clean slate that is always going to be greater than the individual.
Truth be told I need to take a break, which I am going to do as I have a big road trip planned in a few days.
Hope you hold up the fort for me homie…
I welcome our new interstellar overlords and commend them for saving us from more fiction.
They’re looking for Jodie Foster since Matthew McConaughey won’t tell them where she is.
The irony is using/relying on Surfline is akin to coping an anal probe that comes with it’s own girth certificate
3″ Circumference on the face.
Xox
My wife and i saw a ufo flying across dee why beach recently, heading southest.
Ultra fast dead straight line ,tiny sphere
WFO’s or WAP’s?
Xox
It’s almost certainly some fleck of grimes or shit on the glass / lens being ‘activated’ by passing lights.
A few cookers in the comment section here, they’re probably the “educated” ufo spotters and knew all this already.
When’s the Bonnie Blue story coming, arrested in Bali and looking at 15years, who could have seen that coming?
Thats heccos. What did she get done for?
Porn
Haha well I guessed that but what with Indos?

It’s been staring us in the face all this time
Now his writings are starting to make sense
Bloody hell, this means Negs has gone and cut off contact with a real life E.T.
Whooops, dunno if that’s a good idea…
Last known Dane sighting.
Not sure who his buddy is, maybe Negs? I wish it was me…

I have started seeing drone activity off the coast here. very similar looking to the NJ sightings.
not seen it for a few weeks now, but every clear night… 3-4 clear lights interacting with eachother out to sea.
nothing out there, no fishos, planes, nothing. witnessed by myself and 2 other people.
fuuuuuck knows what anyone would be doing out there.
It’s probably like ‘dogging’, but for drones.
Hooking up with like-minded robo-chaps in a deserted airspace and do stuff to each other in the sordid darkness before slinking off back to their respective airport hangers.
as likely as anything I came up with!
Chas you truly are anti-depressive.
The next time you see something flying over your head, don’t fret because it’s not a UFO, it’s just me bailing out on a soft top.
Unidentified Floating ObJackMeoff
Keep this our secret, but my evolution from a once or twice a year surfer to a30 plus days a year surfer started with a Mick Fanning soft top. I know I’ll never live it down but I never got beat up in the lineup before buying a real board…
Nice!
Hey Picard while I got you here I was hoping for some financial “philosophy”.
If by chance you were to bet on everything getting turned upside down in about a months time or so, like T invading Venezuela, Xi invading Taiwan, and VP taking Ukraine, with a simultaneous clamping down here, what would be a good investment that not only pays dividends, but actually pays out in those types of circumstances?
Asking for a friend of course…
Cash
Cash is not an investment,it is actually a loss on your investment as it is taxed both ways. But like the pandemic proved, toilet paper won’t be easy to come by…
So the world is warring and internet fritzing and you think cash wldnt be handy?
Cash on hand in general is always a good idea, but in large amounts it is a liability, and a depreciating asset that has never ever gained in value. And in a true credit lockup it’s ability to buy goods and services would still be highly limited as just about everything operates on a digital playing field.
Some might suggest guns and ammo as a hedge
collectibles
Collecting memories is the only thing of real value to me, other than my kids and family of course.
Trying my best to hold on to them.
Open a trading account on a platform that supports futures trading. Then type a prompt similar to this into whichever LLM you’re into: “Please outline a standard investment strategy for tough times – include when to short growth stocks, when to hold bonds, when to hold gold, what should convince me we’re at the bottom & when to buy discounted stocks”
???
Profit!
Only problem is that following the type of strategy it will recommend makes you a cunt.
Solid!
LOVE surf adjacent geopolitical macro research what if Qs! Now you’re assuming Putin sees more weakness in European leadership so he goes full throttle knowing nukes might be necessary. While Xi ‘s detente with Trump is all for show so he takes Taiwan knowing the massive global disruption that will ensue. As for the orange one taking Venezuela, that placates the US oilys who will take over development and production there. HMMM! DRILL BABY DRILL!
I’m a top down guy so for this what if I’d focus on sector ETFs first then drill down into equities within those sectors that you believe might outperform during this event. That said, obviously Defense & Aerospace with Energy, Utilities and possibly Gold(brutaly high right now) for safety or a volatility hedge against the other sectors . I’d also look at non-Taiwan chip makers that manufacture and finish chips in the US or other friendly countries once they hit an intra or post event low that you decide is your target to make the investment. As for divs, in the Defense and Aerospace sectors, the ETFs kick out 1-2% divs while a few companies kick of between 2-3 percent. For better div income Utilities and Energy ETFs and individual stocks and MLPs kick off higher divs. With divs I am mindful of taxable and tax-sheltered placement where possible and use a fair amount of fixed income type assets to enhance the income plays. There are a few hurdles that challenge this scenario due to the current high values of the sectors and most of the involved equities, so the initial event shock downtrend should create some value opportunities. For fun I just ran this scenario in Grok and Grok went broader on possible investment themes while offering a solid starting point for you to do more research off of the output.
Indeed the Market seems way overvalued.
Defense and Oil seems like reasonable sectors to be vested in, as well as Rare Earth Mining.
I need to get going, I am sick of being too chicken to hedge my instincts and have lost out big time as a result.
Those instances include Oil when it was hovering around 30 a barrel right before Russia invaded Ukraine, XRP right before the last election, and shorting the hell out of Tesla last December/January when homie was riding high on his DOGE horse.
XRP was the one I regret most.
Thanks for your analysis, I tend to not put much faith in AI, as these types of things tend to rely on unforeseen outliers that only human intuition can sniff out. Plus my battles with them have been stranger than fiction lately.
Guns and ammo would be good for a quick end to a brutal takeover, but as far as making money goes not so much.
Again thanks, you are the man!!
FOMO is very real right now so the big challenge is in the current valuations across most sectors tied to whether or not a correction occurs across the broad markets or in certain sectors. Boomers like me have seen too many downturns so we tend to look at the negatives first which can handcuff us. I’m somewhat handcuffed right now and riding out meaningful gains, save for considering the energy and utility plays. And yes I was somewhat under exposed to the AI trade compared to others but my mandates are less risky. Good luck!
Being a GenXer I have seen enough downturns to understand that is when the real opportunities present themselves. For me when I see FOMO in play those ships have already sailed. But conviction without an open mind to other viewpoints is not a good mindset IMO.
Now you got my mind churning. Happy Holidays!
The current macro financial picture is fascinating and surprisingly uncomfortable for many. And then there is the US economy and tired consumer. Too many years of central bank intervention(QE &QT) paired with questionable treasury issuance that appears to have kicked a long overdue, normal cycle recession down the road. There isn’t a playbook to guide us through this dynamic so much will be learned about what new elements might drive the next recession.
