"It was surreal and it was intense."
Nocturnal beachgoers were gifted a close-up view of the mighty Great White shark, a protected species in Australia for the past thirty years, in Perth last night when a masked fisherman reeled in a twelve-footer next to the thirty-one tonne corpse of a whale at City Beach.
The fisherman is masked ’cause catching Great Whites can be a relatively expensive biz and is usually carried out well offshore and also under the cover of darkness.
There is a loophole, howevs.
A fisherman who immediately returns it to the water with the least possible injury stays clear of fines or court action. And, therefore, anyone deliberately targeting Great Whites can claim accidental bycatch, release the animal after the photos, and walk away unpunished.
“It was surreal, it was intense,” said the masked fisherman, who rides under the handle ghost_line_fishing. “We were going out with the intent of catching a shark, you can’t decide or choose or what shark takes your bait.”
A little disingenuous, given the proximity of the Great Whites and the whale, but who’s complaining, am I right?
Or am I right?

Hurting animals without the intent to eat them is gay AF.
Catch it, kill it , eat it. Totally natural and the coolest thing you can do outside of a women’s lovely lady garden.
Hurting an animal just for likes or clout or to feel it tug on a line is a step down from manning the glory hole at your local public toilet.
