More than two years after being garlanded with universal praise by online commenters following his “best” and “most savage” Instagram takedown ever, Kelly Slater has achieved a new high, mounting a multi-pronged, hydra-headed attack on Brazilian surf fans.
As reported by Brazil’s Surf Buzz,
After criticizing Gabriel Medina’s perfect 10 score at the Fiji stage, Kelly Slater left a complimentary comment on a post by the Brazilian surfer.
However, fans reacted and slammed Kelly’s stance for criticizing Medina’s wave and then praising the Brazilian on social media. Bothered, Slater responded and criticized Brazilians quite a bit.

It’s always easier to talk when you’re the all-time favorite in the WSL. If Kelly’s waves were judged like Medina waves, he wouldn’t have even close to 11 world titles. I surfaced a lot, but it always counted “with a little help from my friends”!
Kelly was retired by the Brazilians, sad story for his career, he had to put up with the best in the world who are the current Brazilian surfers. Cry bald.

When a very young Joel was in France for a comp he received a frantic call from his childhood girlfriend Mon telling him she was pregnant. He bombed out of the comp and flew straight back to tell her it was all good, he would speak to his sponsors and they became the first proper family on tour.
When Kelly found out he had become a dad for the first time he simply told the lady he had his own path mapped out to become the GOAT of surfing and a child wasn’t part of that and he didn’t want a bar of it.
Now I just spent the most wonderful fathers day with Mini and if somebody said to me if you gave her up you could become the most decorated surfer of all time with fuckwits blowing smoke up your arse all day I would simply laugh in their faces and tell em to get fucked.
Joel now still hangs with childhood mates and his family getting any wave he wants around home while Kelly somehow ignores his first born while still doing interviews about how important fatherhood is to him and arguing non stop with nobodies online about pretty much everything.
He maybe the GOAT of comp surfing but I wouldn’t swap places with the cunt for all the tea in China. Walking away from your first born or any of your kids is such a dog act I don’t even know how he sleeps at night? Maybe thats why he spends them arguing with nobody’s online?

I agree with Strayan, but for everyone around him to hold the way he handled fatherhood 30 years ago over his head doesn’t seem right either. Sometimes we make big mistakes we can’t fix even if we badly want to fix them. Sometimes the other party isn’t open to mending the wound. Etc. We don’t know the intimate details, but from what we do know it seems that when a ship sailed 3 decades ago it might be better to ask forgiveness and move on.
I agree with that being 30 years ago and let it go. It’s just that he’s being celebrated for being a dad with a young kid by all the announcers when there is a huge elephant in the room. He’s being praised for being a “new dad” and a “good dad”when he did abandon a child. I would rather him being a dad is not talked about at all and rubbed in my face when we all know the truth.

She was born in 1996. At this time Kelly was a multiple world champion. Even if it was a one-off, it’s a bit hard to believe that her mother didn’t know who Kelly was. Especially since he would have been whispering “how’s it feel to be fucked by the great Kelly Slater?” in her ear.
And if she did know it was Kelly, then no-one in their right mind is going to keep it secret from him when there’s millions to be claimed in child support.
And even if she did inexplicably keep is secret, why is Taylor so sour on her dad in the infamous deleted comment? If it was kept secret she’d be sour on her “mom” for being the reason why he didn’t see her.

What is funny is that most who opine on Kelly and his daughter have never met Kelly or the daughter. lolol. I’m inclined to believe that was penned with some creative license based upon just what you read or “heard in a podcast”? But I’m certain that his first experience with childhood was much more complex (as it is with most everything in life) than how you simplified it – essentially describing his actions that were completely polar opposite of what the Superdads of the world like Joel and you did, just to validate his cuntiness. I don’t know Kelly. Never met him and am certainly not a fan of his online antics. But I don’t think hearsay or things one reads on the internet… even hearing first hand from a mate – of which it appears you are with Joel.. thus your also detailed description of how he acted upon fatherhood news, as being determining evidence on why he’s a shit human. There is enough documented evidence like social beefs, first hand accounts of him doing Rob wrong, others saying how his competitiveness was overbearing in the Momentum flick etc… for people to come to that conclusion independent of something so complex like kids born from a one night stand and parents that were never meant to be.

In Ke11y’s defence seeing as he’s from Florida and therefore speaks English as a second language, and hasn’t spent much time in Brazil so wouldn’t have any knowledge of Portuguese, it’s probably just a ‘lost in translation’ issue when he attempts it.

We are all just products of our environment and if I had to choose between surfing fun waves with say 50 people out or putting on a wetty and surfing average waves with ten guys out then I know which one I’m choosing every time haha.
If ya love WA and South Oz so much why did ya end up on the east coast in some cold, backwater that everyone knows about? Why didn’t ya stay in the WA desert where theres fuck all to do if the waves are shit?
You can’t even compare the two. WA breeds the odd good big wave surfer and the odd freak like Taj. The East Coast produces world champs and heaps better all round surfers. I would fucking hate to live in WA with all that wind and cold weather and scrabbling around in the dirt with fuck all to do. Give me pumping, fun waves in warm water all day long and when youre on dry land you can enjoy the many other perks of being surrounded by civilisation
