Earlier today, online sleuths brought BeachGrit’s attention to an Instagram account that had made sport of Filipe’s struggles in big reef waves. The satirical post was made in response to Filipe’s “security blanket” daddy Ricardo’s spray who “excoriated the World Surf League for running a day of competition at famed Western Australia slab The Box.”

Real world surfing campions in the past have always been able dominate in all wave sizes and conditions without complaint , that’s what our sport is about! Anyway when 2 foot waves get too much for you Filipe , you can get your Dad to push you through some puddles in a pram.

My guess is Felipe charges way harder than whoever made this post. If you know anything about surfing you would knows that doing 6 foot punts on 6 foot waves is psycho and probably one of the easiest ways to break your ankle or worse.
Immature and totally stupid post. Time is precious my friend don’t waste it…Ha has the best wave already surfed in a Competition, and maybe one of the best ones already surfed – the 10 in Jeffreys Bay. F#$@ u if he has psycological difficulties surfing bigger waves, he destroys all the other waves and his technique is far from almost evwryone in the tour.

How he lets daddy speak up and draw this much fun at his short comings in big reef surf is the crazy part. Being hesitant in heavy surf is human. If Filipe owned that and didn’t have a giant lion on his chest there would be nothing to poke fun at. But if you have a big ego and like to thump your chest after doing airs in head high surf you got to be ready for the call out. He is one of the best to ever performance surf so it’s got to be hard not being able to ever be one of the best all around surfer. But at least ask pops to shut up.
Hawaii always has been, is and always will be the proving ground. No doubt his small/medium wave game is one of the best out there. But big barrels and burying rails is where legends are made.
It’s a bit petty to keep heaping shit on the guy. Like making fun of a fat cunt.
